For those concerned about using cast iron cookware on a glass cook top… It's not a problem. I've had my cook top for about 5 years and have used my cast iron just as I have for nearly 50 years on gas or regular electric ranges. I have just a couple of common sense suggestions for safe use. Don't drop it on the glass surface and don't scoot it around, pick it up. If you can't pick up your cast iron cook ware then you need to sit and watch TV with it and pick it up and move it to the coffee table, a few minutes later pick it up and move it to the side table or beside you on the couch. Short form, practice picking it up and moving it while it is cold and empty! Anybody can build the strength to handle cookware.

I could not find 325 mg Ferrous Sulphate anywhere when my doctor put me on it. I finally asked at the pharmacy counter, and they had it behind the counter for some reason. Since it is not a prescription only med, I thought that it would just be out with the regular vitamins. My Hematologist has me taking three of them a day due to my iron saturation being at 11.

I was diagnoised as being anemic just a few weeks ago. My doctor put me on Ferrous Sulphate and I take it daily. When I went to the doctor about the way I was feeling I thought it could be my thyroid but that is just fine. One of the problems I was experiencing is that for no reason at all I could sit down and just fall asleep. I even fell asleep at work one time that happened before the doctor put me on the ferrous sulphate. Since I have been taking the medication I have been sleeping much better and no more falling asleep during the work day.

You can damage a glass stove top range by scratching and possibly breaking the glass surface due to the weight and texture of cast iron cookware.

I have to get my iron skillet out again. I have chronic anemia , but I also have developed gout and the same foods that help built iron are not so good for gout so I have to walk a fine line between iron rich foods and gout attacks. If you really want to have major pain , just wake up with you big toe feeling like it is being ripped off your foot. Thank God of toradol shots and the ER nurse that gave me one. by the timeI got to the ER 3am , I would have sold my first born for something to stop the pain. Not really LOL:>but it was really bad. So I just float alone tired but mostly pain free. maybe some chopped clams and olive oil on my whole wheat pasta
Spinach salad once in a while, but only in moderation.
I do love corn bread cooked in an iron skillet with ice cold buttermilk. Its a hillbilly thing, you know.Summers at grandmas house evening meals sometimes was hot cornbread and buttermilk and a plate of snap field peas with chunks of ham in it for flavor. Then we would run all those calories off catching fireflys in a fruit jar at night.

I had heard of the iron skillet idea before. I had to stop using mine because I have a glass cook top. Hmmm, I will have to find a way.
