Diabetes: understanding insulin resistance

From MAYS January 27, 2010 18 Comments

When your cells become insulin resistant, they lose their sensitivity to insulin. As a result, large quantities of glucose cannot enter the cells, remaining instead, in the blood stream where it passes to the liver and is converted to fat. This process often leads to weight gain.

I have used these products and they do work very well. But as stated, they are just so expensive. It is hard to be consistent with them.

I like the video, I thought that it gave me information that I need even though that I have been on insulin for about one year, and still try to controll it . and with the diet and walking I thogut that I would loss weight andlower my A1c . so at this point I am still going to try very hard to get it under controll. I have been a Type 2
fro more then two years, so this video is still good to listen to.

Sonya Slim and Kirla, both of your statements are very well given, what works for one person may not work for another, each case of diabetes does vary somewhat according to the individual for various reasons because we are all different, all we really have in common is the fact that we are human.

Some believe that one plan works for everyone and that is simply not the case as the two of you are both living proof of such, I applaud the two of you, congratulations on your success !

My A!C went from 14.1 to 5.9 in a little less than 4 months.

When diagnosed I started to drink 8 plus glasses of water and started to eat low carb vegetables every day.

I started with 2-3 cups of salad with a low carb dressing and added 3-4 tablespoons of red wine vinegar. Than I added coleslaw made of cabbage and carrots with a little mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar.

When I started using Splenda, I added a tablespoon of it to my coleslaw and it come out great.

At about the same time I started to eat broccoli, pickles, cauliflower, cucumbers, sauerkraut and other low carb vegetables.

I believe eating and drinking the way I do helps lower insulin resistance. At least it has helped lower mine.

Within a month my average blood sugar dropped 200 points.

A month later I was able to stop taking meds. I have been able to control my blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol all with diet alone. My numbers keep getting better and better.

By testing the foods I eat I was able to reduce or eliminate most foods that spiked my blood sugar. By testing before and after each meal I was able to control my blood sugar even better.

My A1C has gone from 14.1 to 5.9 to 5.6 to 5.4 all in less than a year. This month I will be testing my A1C again. I believe it will be under 6 again this month.

Being a diabetic has saved my life.

Great Video. I used to take Actos for my Insulin Resistance. Now I take chromotone. Learn your own body and what it needs. I truly believe everyone's diabetic condition is very unique.

Good information on insulin resistance, but no direction given for new diabetics to improve their
position.
