Belly Fat Linked To Type-2 Diabetes
90% of type-2 diabetes cases develop after significant fat is gained in the omentum located in the abdomen. This creates insulin resistance effectively 'gumming-up' pores in body cells preventing sugar from being absorbed from the blood. As blood sugars rise the pancreas works harder by making more insulin. Years of stress and overwork causes the pancreas to fail prematurely leading to insulin fatigue and diabetes.

Thanks for your comments about my video, I'm glad it was helpful. It seems that nearly all of my patients struggle with their weight, not just those with diabetes. Some general tips I can offer: Daily exercise (it burns sugars and lower insulin resistance), more fiber (30-35 grams/day added slowly), Less foods with high fructose corn syrup (It's metabolized in the liver and may be responsible for insulin resistance), maybe a dose of Culturelle daily (friendly bacteria-gut bacteria imbalance may influence weight gain, adequite sleep (7-9 hrs), stress reduction. Read more tips on my website: www.healthdoc.org/Q&A. Good luck.
great video. have found it very hard to lose weight. I wish i could find an inexpensive way to do it. I have tried so hard and lose 10lbs here or there. I do exercise…walk, ride bike, etc. I am taking lantis and was told it is very hard to lose weight on insulin. HELP!!! I am very frustrated!
I like this video; it's straightforward and to the point. Belly fat most importantly is very unhealthy, and secondly just plain unattractive. The belly area is the first place on our bodies to gain and the hardest and last to lose.
If people would only listen !
Please view and rate, very informative !
Here we go again—I've learned something new already today. This is very good to know.

thanks for the video,Istarted at 280 lbs and now am 235 6mo. later I still test 4 or more times a day do not have to inject to much eny more ,but dropping the lbs. has helped me
Hi Kate,
Thanks for your comment. Glad the video explanation was helpful. Congratulations on your success so far. Beginning a regular exercise program will help you maintain the weight you have already lost, and make it easier to control your diabetes in the years to come. Sit-ups will help to strengthen your abdominal muscles and flatten your stomach somewhat, but regular aerobic exercise will burn unwanted fat. This is especially true when exercise extends beyond 30 minutes. Start slowly to build your strength and stamina until you can walk briskly for 1 hour. If you have difficulty walking, try water exercises. Good luck. Stay in touch and let me know how it goes.

Thanks for helping me understand how and why diabetes affects my health. Having a visual was great. I'm a type 2 (diagnosed a year ago) and my age is 57. I have lost 30 pounds and I'm able manage my diabetes with Metformin and diet. I still have belly fat. I know I need to start a regular exercise program. Would it be helpful to focus the exercise on losing the body fat i.e. sit-ups?
Thanks-
Kate
Great information. Keep it up.
Hi Rebecca,
I can under your fears, but no need for alarm. Remember that the pancreas as an organ can be healthy and function fine even though the surface cells that make insulin (beta cells) are fatigued.

Thanks HealthDoc this was interesting! Gosh I hate that belly fat!! Have a blessed day. Kathy
Thank you for that video presentation. I will be able to show this one to my family so they can understand diabetes better.
Will my "fatigued pancreas" ever recover? My mother died of pancreatic cancer, so I get anxiety when I learn that my pancreas isn't working.
This is a great video , thanks for sharing this with us
