Water Aerobics Classes

Water aerobics classes are low-impact, 60-minute workouts held in a shallow swimming pool, typically taught at a gym or fitness center. Participants stand in chest-deep water and are lead by an instructor through a series of body movements to increase heart rate, flexibility, and strength. The water helps protect joints from the impact of regular aerobics classes. Water aerobics can be an outstanding choice for those who suffer from painful joints or neuropathy. The American Diabetes Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week.

Water Aerobics Classes Reviews

Can't swim

Pros: I can't swim

Cons: None

Overall: Would be too afraid of falling under water and I can't swim

Even good for non-swimmers

Pros: Because of back problems, I do not go to an actual class, but I have designed my own water exercise program incorporating water walking along with exercises for my legs that do not cause any twisting motion in my back. The low-impact workout is just what I need.

Cons: Does not give as much cardio workout as other activities.

Overall: Wonderful--love the natural high after exercising.

me to twist my back. Because my workouts are low-impact, I am able to do a 60 minute workout several times a week.

Water Aerobics Changed my life.

Pros: In December I was diagnosed with diabetes. I could barely walk and felt 100 years old. In January I , after seeing a dietician , I began my diabetic plan for eating and I joined an awesome Senior Center that offers a wide variety of physical activities . I first started in a low impact water aerobics class. Within two weeks I moved to a high impact water aerobics class. Because of it ( 8 months later ) I have lost 49 pounds , I row 3 miles several days a week , and participate in a high impact cardiovascular class. I also walk and ride a bike when I can., I exercise 2-3 hours a day most of the time. I'm able to do things I haven't done for years . I feel 15 years younger. My body is in the best shape it has been in since I was in my thirties. Just try to keep up with me now when I walk , LOl.. I feel wonderful !

Cons: Not having a facility that offers it..

Overall: Awesome ! What's not to like about improving your health , getting physically fit, feeling better, and losing weight while having fun ? I'm loving it !
