Zumba is a fitness class format that combines Latin dancing with interval and resistance training for a full-body, rhythmic workout. It can help strengthen muscles and increase your cardio endurance. This form of exercise will raise your heart rate, tones your legs and your core. Zumba also has classes tailored toward seniors, which helps retain bone density and reduces their chance of injury while doing day-to-day tasks. It can be practiced at a gym, or studio as well as at the pool. With warm-up and cool down, classes last about 60 minutes. It is currently taught in more than 75 countries around the world. The American Diabetes Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week.
