Brand Names: Cymbalta

Duloxetine, which is sold under the brand name Cymbalta, is an oral medication originally created to treat depression and anxiety. It has since been approved for the treatment of pain caused by nerve damage associated with diabetes (diabetic peripheral neuropathy) as well as other types of pain. Duloxetine belongs to a group of medicines known as selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). The precise way that these medications work is unclear. It is thought to work by increasing the activity of chemicals called serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain.

Duloxetine Reviews

cymbalta duloxetine my nurse practicionor

Pros: I am on Cymbalta 60 mg once a day. It was originally prescribed to help me with depression. It was also supposed to help with the neuropathy. I also take 100 mg 3xday of Lyrica. I am ok sometimes as far as depression, but the neuropathy is kicking my butt. I do not want more pills. I don't want the ones I have, I just want one that works, Any suggestions to pass on to my doc?

Cons: No real help with pain

Overall: It's ok. It keeps my mood swings down. But my pain is still there

Great for pain, just ok for depression.

Pros: Duloxetine has worked great for my neuropathy. I take 120 mg per day, when just taking 60 mg I would still have the pain but not as severe. At 120 mg I rarely have a day with pain.

Cons: If I forget to take it I get terrible headaches.

Overall: Before starting this not only was I having trouble walking but I couldn't even press the gas pedal on my car it hurt so bad. This has worked great for me.

Overall: Very interesting information. Was not aware cymbalta helped with neuropathy pain. Will be talking with my Dr about this on my next visit in May, as I have advanced neuropathy pain with severe nerve damage. Will be back to update this information later.
