Is Green Been Coffee Extract good for type two diabetes?

Amy Campbell

Green coffee bean extract (GCBE) is a dietary supplement made from unroasted coffee bean seeds. This extract is rich in a substance called chlorogenic acid. A study involving 117 men showed that blood pressure improved after they were given varying doses of GCBE for 28 days compared to a placebo. However, other studies that involved giving GCBE to subjects for weight loss purposes were not that impressive, mostly because the studies weren’t well designed and the number of participants was small. Very few studies have looked at the effectiveness of GCBE on diabetes control. GCBE extract is fairly safe, but you should realize that this supplement contains caffeine, which can cause irritability, insomnia, rapid heartbeat and stomach upset in some people when taken in high doses. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking this or any other type of dietary supplement.
