Is it possible I am diabetic? Diabetes runs in my family and I have been feeling strange lately. The least little thing I do make me exhausted, short of breath and light-headed. I'm also thirsty all the time.

You do have some of the symptoms that can occur with diabetes. The common symptoms include excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue and blurred vision. However, all of these symptoms are nonspecific and can occur with other conditions. In particular, your symptoms of feeling short of breath and lightheaded can occur with many other conditions. Because the symptoms of diabetes are not specific, it is important that you have a complete evaluation by your healthcare provider – testing for diabetes as well as other conditions that might be causing your symptoms.
