Are my blood pressure and heart rate normal? When I took them at Wal-Mart recently, my blood pressure was 94/50 with a pulse rate of 47. I am a 73-year-old female with type 2 diabetes.
Heart rates vary quite a bit from one person to the next, but anything under 60 beats per minute is on the low side. Make sure to monitor your heart beat over the next few days. Let your doctor know what the numbers are. If you are unable to take your own pulse, set up an appointment to see your doctor to have it rechecked. Your blood pressure is also low at 94/50. If you are on medicine to lower your blood pressure, make an appointment with your doctor to have the number rechecked and discuss your options with him or her. Your blood pressure medicine may need some adjusting. If your blood pressure is that low and you are not on any blood pressure-lowering medicine, it most likely means you naturally have low blood pressure. You should discuss it with your doctor, but in general there are no treatments for low blood pressure.
