Can janumet cause low blood pressure? I am constantly in the 90/60 range. I also have a heart problem — my ticker kicks in and out of sync. I am a 71-year-old female on oxygen for lung problems.

Janumet is a combination medication for type 2 diabetes containing both Januvia (a DPP-4 inhibitor) and metformin (a biguanide). Side effects of Januvia include slight increased risk of sore throat, runny nose or allergic reaction. Side effects of metformin include loose stools, GI upset and possible increased risk of lactic acidosis. You mention that your blood pressure is lower on Janumet, but that you also have heart and lung problems. Studies with metformin and Januvia have not shown any significant effect on blood pressure. I would recommend that you review possible causes of your lower blood pressure measurements with your healthcare provider.
