What should my blood sugar be in the morning before eating?

Amy Campbell

For most people with diabetes, fasting (first thing in the morning) and before-meal blood glucose goals are anywhere from 70 to 130 mg/dl. Your goal may be different, however, so you should discuss this with your healthcare provider. I’d suggest you also ask about your blood glucose goal 2 hours after a meal, which for most people is less than 180 mg/dl, and at bedtime, is usually 90 to 150.

I was only told to check when I first wake up which is 4 am every morning. My blood glucose ranges from 100 to 135. I think I will start testin 2 hrs after evening meal or before I go to bed
