At what number should high glucose be measured? Some people say it is 180 and some say it is 140.

It depends on when you are checking the blood glucose. If you are checking before a meal, in general, we want most people with diabetes to be below 130. If you check two hours after the meal, we want the number to be less than 180, because it’s normal to be a little higher after meals. We don’t expect the numbers will always be in target, but if they are most of the time, that is good.
