I raised a son w/ Type 1 & am familiar with managing his diabetes w/ carb counting & insulin. My 93YO father was just diagnosed with Type 2 (A1C 7.9, FBG 140). He was not put on meds, but sent to a generic class to learn "how to eat." He eats a healthy low fat diet due to cardiac history. Only able to walk short distances for exercise. I helped my mom learn to count carbs & use a meter, but to keep his BS around 120, he can only eat about 35 carbs per meal. He is rapidly losing weight...HELP!
