Q:

Lately my BS reading have been all over the place from 99-312 in a matter of MINUTES.....my meter is fairly new and my blood strips have not expired. Does anyone know what could be the cause of such erratic readings? This is really stressing me out as I am imagining the worst of everything! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Most likely the results you are getting are just not accurate. If you know that your finger tips are clean and nothing could be interfering with the results, such as, strips that are no good, then you may want to think about getting a different brand of blood glucose meter. Purchasing control solution (there will be a specific control solution just for your meter) and checking to see if your strips provide accurate readings using this solution is a good way to know if your strips are still okay. Strips are only good for 3 to 6 months (depending on the manufacturer) once opened, regardless of the expiration date on the bottle. Also, storing strips in extreme temperatures, such as very hot or very cold environments, can also negatively affect strip accuracy.

My doctor told me that I am prediabetic and with care in eating could keep from getting T2. Problem is, I have Chronic Kidney Failure. The diet for both of these problems contradict each other. Is there information out there for both problems?
