I am a recently diagnosed T2. My doctor has not told me I need to check my blood glucose but I feel I need to in order to know where I am along with what is working and what doesn't. I received one free by answering some questions on a website. What is the best product to used to clean it.

Your blood glucose meter does not need to be cleaned on the inside at all. If you want to clean the outside of the meter, wiping it with a little rubbing alcohol or an antiseptic wipe, or even a small amount of soap and water should be fine. You never want to soak the outside of the meter or immerse the meter in water, as this will ruin the electronics within the meter. As with any piece of electronic equipment, gentle cleaning the outside is fine, but do not use too much liquid. If you call the 1-800 number on the back of the meter or look in your meter manual, you will be able to get specific instructions on how to clean your meter.
