A recent article on weight loss failure did not address a reason we are experiencing - the diabetic has had a major stroke and cannot exercise due to the inability to properly exercise arms and legs. What exercises can we do, in place of walking, running and other normal exercises? A PT now has the diabetic on wheelchair-accessible exercise bike, up to 20 minutes twice weekly, at a moderate pace.
Since this person is already working with a physical therapist (PT), I would ask the PT to suggest other appropriate types of exercise that this person can do at home, perhaps with your or someone elses’s assistance. The role of the PT is to work with this person and provide guidance for how to safely continue to do physical activity once the PT sessions have ended.
