Q:

Simple question, how many carbs are in melons? I love cantaloupe and watermelon.

Amy Campbell

A:

Melons are indeed a tasty type of fruit and they’re packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and antioxidants. The amount of carb in melons is, of course, dependent on how much you eat. For meal planning purposes, a serving of cantaloupe is 1 cup of cubed melon or 1/3 of a 5-inch diameter melon. A serving of watermelon is 1 ¼ cups of cubed watermelon or about 1/16th of a 10-ounce melon. A serving of fruit contains 15 grams of carbohydrate.
