I'm a type 2 and have looked for the diabetic exchange numbers for a 1200 a day diet. I tried this in the mid-50's and found it easier than the current diet. Where can I get information on these numbers?
If you do a search on the Internet for diabetes meal plans, you’ll find that there are a number of websites that provide exchanges and meal plans for various calorie levels. Here are two sites that you can visit: http://www.diabetescare.net/handouts.asp, http://www.personal-nutrition-guide.com/1200-calorie-meal_plan.html, http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/obesity/lose_wt/sampmenu.htm. As you’re probably aware though, it can be challenging to follow these meal plans because they’re not tailored to the way you eat or the foods that you like. You might consider meeting with a dietitian for a more personalized meal plan that’s better suited to your schedule, food preferences and any other health conditions that you may have.
