I'm wondering after looking at recipes in Diabetic Connect, what is a exceptable amount of sugar and carbs in a snack such as the low sugar, no bake cookies. How many can you eat at one time or are regular cookies going to be just as reasonable?
I took a quick look at some of the cookie recipes on the website, and the carbohydrate content ranged from 8 to 20 grams. The serving size varied, however, depending on the size of the cookie. In general, if you are counting carbohydrates, the goal is to aim for about 15 grams of carb for a snack if you’re a woman, and up to 30 grams of carb for a snack if you’re a man. You don’t need to look at the grams of sugar, as they’re included in the total carb grams. So, if you’re planning on eating a cookie or two, always look at the serving size and total carb grams on the label and use this as a guide for how many cookies you can eat. Looking at the food label is a good idea for figuring out how much of any food you can eat.
