Q:

Hi, I need some advice or resources to consult in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm 35 yrs old, type 2 diabetic since 2007. Dr is suggesting that with weight loss I can probably get off my medication (Janumet 50mg/1000mg x2). I am also running and got myself a personal trainer. Doctor wants me on a low-carb, ketogenic diet, claiming that the diet will help reset the pancreas to produce insulin. I'm taking other meds. Any advice or resources I can tap into to get more info?

My suggestion is to contact the Canadian Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.ca or at 1-800-226-8464. They can provide you with the contact information for diabetes programs and diabetes educators in your area.
