Q:
Are yeast infections a sign of diabetes? I have had an yeast infection for almost five years. My grandfather died of diabetes. Is it possible I have diabetes, too?
A:
Any chronic, persistent infection can be a sign of diabetes, and yeast infections in particular are much more common in people with diabetes. Your yeast infection could be from diabetes or it could be that your infection has been misdiagnosed or not effectively treated. In either case, it would make sense, considering your family history, to get checked for diabetes. This involves having your doctor order a simple, fasting blood test.

An uninterrupted infection for almost five years?! Go to an OB/GYN right now or visit a clinic. That is a very persistent infection and you need to get it checked out as soon as possible.
thanks
