I get unsalted almonds then portion them into snack size ziplocs. A portion of almonds is 23 nuts at 180 cal, 17g fat, 5g carb, 6g protein.

I've got like 3 bags here at work, and a ton at home. CostCo/Sam's Club, BJ's etc are great for stocking up on nuts on the cheap.

Peanuts are great, cashews, ALMONDS!, walnuts, pistachios, sunflower seeds.

Because of the high protein content I've even been able to have some sweetened cashews and not get a big spike. Nuts have proven to give me a very level rise and lower of my blood sugar

I love nuts too! My favorite are almonds. Although you have to limit how much due to the fat content the type of fat helped lower my cholesterol. Sometimes I'll buy bags of just the nuts I like & make my own mixed nuts & trail mix.

I eat a handful of almonds a day sometimes a handful of mixed nuts and I like to eat sunflower seeds already shelled. It's hard not to eat too many, they are so calorie dense. Planters has a new mix with cranberries I think or maybe it is cherries, that I like.

I like nuts and carry a can of Almonds in my car, no fear of spilling—if I get the lid back on—-quick energy, I also carry water, mostly because my meds make me so thirsty, so figure nuts and water carry me thru to home and a good meal. Of course, moderation I suppose should enter in, as usual—haha— Pat R

I used to like eating sunflower seeds in the shell. I started to notice that my mouth was getting sore though. Do you think it was an allergy to the nuts or just the salt irritating my mouth?

I agree that nuts are great, but watch portion sizes. They are wicked high-fat!

I think I'm addicted to nuts. I recently bought one of those giant bags of almonds at Costco. I love have a bunch mid morning and then again mid afternoon. Really helps with those cravings for "less healthy" snacks :-)

Nuts offer protein but also fats and should be eaten in moderation. Eaten with a carb like a fruit they will keep blood sugar from spiking and stave off the hungries. A daily diet should be no more than 30% fat unless you are exercising A LOT. If you have any GI problems like a diverticulosis/itis or irritable bowel, you need to be very careful with nuts as they can cause a lot of irritation.

I eat one serving of peanuts everyday. At night I snack on almonds. 2-3 serving everyday. I also eat one serving of sunflower seeds everyday. Nuts and seeds all have the good fats. Fats make up about 60% of my diet. My blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure, all have been great sense eating nuts and seeds. I haven’t lost much weight but haven’t gained much either.

I was on a diet a few years ago and my understanding was that nuts had to be included as a fat. Is this true. On my food category, it was listed as a fat. Does this mean if we eat nuts, we have to be careful about our other fat servings?

I love almonds and heard they are one of the best of the nuts. I love all nuts but I switched to almonds for all the nuts I consume because they are the healthiest I hope.

Only bad thing about nuts is the calories…limit them if your looking to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight…they are definitely a great low carb, decent protein snack in small amounts :)

I enjoy walnuts, almonds and pistachios. I keep my walnuts and almonds in the freezer to keep them from going rancid and I add them to salads and meals. I even have a recipe for nut meat, a meatless hamburger replacement for meals. It is really good, and good for you.
