Every Tuesday in November, Diabetic Connect is hosting a Twitter chat so that you can get direct responses from professionals, advocates, and fellow diabetics as part of Diabetes Awareness Month 2014. Join our first Twitter chat at #DCDE this Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. EST to talk about diabetes advocacy.
Use this Twitter Chat as an opportunity to talk to the diabetic community about why you are an advocate for diabetes, what being an advocate means to you, what frustrations you have with being an advocate, and why being an advocate for diabetes is so important. If you don’t already consider yourself an advocate for diabetes, this Twitter Chat is the perfect time to get inspired and learn from experienced advocates, and our featured guest, Christel Aprigliano, about how you can get involved.
Christel has had type 1 diabetes since she was a young girl and she is now a prominent diabetes patient advocate, working hard to heighten diabetes awareness and create positive changes in the diabetic community. Her thoughts on and experiences with diabetes can be found on her blog The Perfect D. She is also the founder of The Diabetes UnConference, a peer-to-peer support conference for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Jewels Doskicz, a Diabetic Connect advocate and registered nurse, will also join this chat as well as all of the November Twitter chats as our moderator. She and our featured guest Christel will be posting questions for you to respond to (via tweets) so that you can have instantaneous, stimulating, and educational conversation with our guest, moderator, and other participants in our chats.
To get started, create a Twitter profile (if you don’t already have one) and start following Diabetic Connect on Twitter. Become a part of our conversation on Tuesday, by using #DCDE (Diabetic Connect Diabetic Education).
