Irma Preps for Diabetics
The hurricane season has been nuts. I am sitting here, tucked in and waiting for Irma to come. So many in Texas, the whole North West and now the South are facing huge upsets in routine that is often what keeps us sane. Keeping a schedule while in an emergency can be difficult at best. Here...

Stress. It Matters A Lot!
I haven't been posting a lot on here for quite a while. I've been very busy just trying to survive my life. The stress has been huge, relentless, and FELT that it would never end, even though I KNEW it eventually would. I know I carry on about stress a lot and everyone is probably tired of...

3 years in and frustrated
This 3rd week of September marks 3 years diagnosed as diabetic & things (blood sugar #) are feeling out of control - like I'm being sabotaged by my body. I'm following the directions of my professional but yet there seems to be very little rhyme / reason / adherence to 'the rules' in my...

How Do You See Your Glucose Numbers?
Are they an affirmation? Do they blame you? Is there guilt associated with them? Do you beat yourself up because of them? Do you celebrate them? I came across an article that addressed the fact that our glucose numbers are not a pass or fail test. They are information to help us make...

Exhausted
I haven't been here in a very long time. I'm looking for a little help to get moving. At 56, I wonder if menopause is playing a part. I buy really healthy food, but don't have the energy to cook so I'm eating junk and not moving out of pure exhaustion, which is making me feel horrible about...

Not diabetic, just the opposite, but looking for answers and support
Hi all, I've been losing weight (40 lbs in 4 months) without trying. I had all kinds of CT scans, MRI, sonogram, you name it. Then there was a simple blood test. The test was taken after breakfast, so not fasting. I had a corn muffin and a coffee with cream so there should have been...

Diabetes Police and What They Shouldn't Say
I came across a good (and a little old) blog about the things people should not say to someone with diabetes. The classics like: "Should you be eating that?" or " You don't look like you have diabetes." People say some really stupid and insensitive stuff out of ignorance (at least I hope it's...

So in the last few months, I haven't been as strict as I should be, and my sugars showed it, coming in at 100-150 ish more often than not. I was pushing to get them down again by diet changes, but wasn't getting the result I needed. And then...we had a wildfire. Less than 3 miles away and...

Hospitals and Meds...help!
Okay, after the last go round at the hospital (2 years or so back) when I got the wrong meds and a huge fight, I determined that if I ever went in again, my meds would not leave my control, period. Good thing. Last week I had some truly funky numbness and lightheadedness that landed me at the...
