Ok, so I have always had pretty bad control of my diabetes. Im talkin blood sugars in the 300, 400's. For about 2 months now, I have been monitoring my bloodsugars on the sugarstats website I had shared with everyone here. I still have some spikes, but I am working and trying my hardest to get the tightest control possible. I know this will not happen overnight, but I am trying :) However, it seems that ever since my bloodsugars have been a little more controlled, that I am getting a lot of headaches now. Sometimes almost everyday! I know this may be because my body is adjusting to the new bloodsugars because it has been used to higher levels, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I know I should go to the dr, and I do have an appt on the 24th, but I want to know from other diabetics if they have experienced this as well. Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem i have been getting headaches when my blood sugars starts going intothe normal range after being in the 300 to 400 range. I have talked to my doctor and she says that when i get my blood sugars under control that they will go away because my blood sugars will be more consistant.

I've started having daily morning headaches recently. It doesn't seem to be related to my blood sugars but I don't know. I'm seeing the doctor soon also. I hope it's something as simple as blood sugars.

Hope you get an answer as well. What do you take when you get the headaches?

I've tried Tylenol and Advil. I've also tried a few prescription meds from my doctor. So far, nothing consistently helps. I've thought maybe it was dehydration so I increased my fluid intake; but that hasn't helped either. I hope the doctor has another suggestion when I see him.

Well, I live here in Chicago.IL. and the weather is always so crazy here. 2 degrees Monday, and 52 degrees on Tuesday! Lol. I figured maybe I some type of a sinus thing goin on seens how I wake up quite often with my eyes feeling very "puffy" and I get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. So, when I took Sudafed PE this morning, my headache went away within 15 minutes and Ive been ok all morning.

It hit me so that my upper lip would swell, one side or the other or sometimes both. People woild walk past and stare when I was at any of the toll road rest areas. I thought of the area more as the sewer scenes from the TV show Beauty and the Beast with me as the Beast. The Beauty was my Beagle.

I too get headaches everyday. I assume it has something to do with my BS. I also have a DR appoint coming up but glad to see that I am not the only one!

Well, I actually have where my blood pressure is usually always a little bit lower than it should be. So, I doubt its high b/p. Im still hoping its just my body getting used to "normal" bloodsugars! And not nothing bad as 2 close family members of mine have passed away from Brain Aneurysms and had complained about headaches for a while before the aneuryms took place:(

perhaps you should tell your Dr about your headaches and family history of aneurism deaths. Perhaps a MRI might be in order to see if one is building.

Yes, I have an appt with my endo on the 24th, so I think Ima see if she can have one done. I woke up with one again, this morning :(

I'm sorry that you have to go through that, but am thankful you are able to wake up!. My bride went to sleep last July 22 and didn't wake up the next morning. I really miss her.

Aww,…Im sorry jayabee. I know how much it hurts to lose someone you love dearly as I loss my son in 2008. He was only 6 months old. He was taken via c-section at only 24 weeks when I slipped into a coma. (My diabetes had gotten so bad that it had started shutting ALL organs down and had "poisoned" (as the dr's say) my blood. Dr's told my mom and sons father at the time that I had maybe a 10% chance of making it out of there alive. Thank God Im here today! I couldnt stand the thought of my 8 year old growing up with out me!

I miss her terribly, but I knew that with all her "medical challenges" she was (as one of my pastors said in a sermon) "circling the drain". And as much as I would want her back with me, as much pain as she was in (RA & Lupis), and as many other "challenges" she had to juggle. I had hoped we'd have more time together than 2&1/2 yrs. Yet I wouldn't want to bring her back to that again.

I am a strong believer in another, better life for us in heaven (for those who put their trust in Jesus) and I believe "Jem" is there where there is no more pain, or tears, or partings, or death. I believe I will join her in our perfected, immortal bodies when the time comes.

I don't have headaches from my sugars going up or down but my blood pressure tends to run high and that really makes me have severe headaches. Have you checked your blood pressure when you have these episodes?

moora 2011-03-13 06:16:13 -0500 Report

I have had headache both when my sugar is low and when it is high. I still haven;t figured out the range that doesn;t give me head ache. Now, I have started to check my sugar when i have headache and started to write it down, so that I can figure out the range.

sorry you are experiencing this. I hope someone on here can help. My experience has been the opposite. I had regular headaches before diagnosis, and once BS was under control, very very few and the exercise I thnk that I do daily may actually help prevent them in some cases. Hope you find out what it is.

Hi. I was having a terriable problem with headaches when I was taking januvia.it seems that's all januvia did for me was give me headaches.! I'm now off januvia and taking two different insulins and my headaches are gone! Are you taking any medication to control your BS? I found out that it can be a possiable side effect! Mine were soo bad! Also januvia did NOTHING to help lower my levels I stayed in the 300 to 400 range. I feel so much better now that I'm on the insulin! The daily headaches were so severe! I'm so glad there gone now. I hope you get to the bottom of what's causing your headaches and feel better soon! Good luck to you and God bless!

I have been on insulin since I was 8. (so thats almost 18 years now) and Ive never had these headaches so often as I do now :( Same insulin and everything. Not taking anything new. I actually thought that I was getting headaches from my salads. I LOOOOOVE SALAD and HAVE to have one a day! LOL. I know it sounds crazy, but yea, I thought it was from the salads. However, I then noticed that even when I didnt eat the salads, I still got them:(
