I hate that I have to change my whole life. I've always been one of the healthiest people I know, now I have to think about every single thing that I eat. The whole thing makes me pretty mad.

What don't I hate about it there are to may resaons 1. When my sugares drop to low and then the panic atacks come along and you go crazy trying to find something quick to throw in your mouth. 2. Poking my fingers. 3. But most of all taking all kinds of meds. I get tired of taking them every day. Thank you for letting me let that all out! Penny

Why does it just have to be one thing? How about (a) having to watch everything I eat, (b) not having that cookie over there, (c) the existing and future complications, (d) being a single parent and worrying about lows when I am taking care of my daughter, (e) all of the equipment and medication I have to keep with me all the time.
What we really need is a top 10 list.

I hate the fact that I had gestational diabetes with my daughter and was not told to watch myself later in life and then when I was 38 I got type 2. And now I hate the insulin because it is so hard to loose weight when you take insulin. Oh no I am not bitter. LOL

I hate the fact that it's not only your bs levels you have to worry about, like most people think. I have to worry about my eyes, my feet, my kidneys, my liver, and my reproductive parts…I KNOW I missed something…

I hate that my 3 year old cries everything I have to take a shot or check my bs levels…

ON the flip side, I love the fact that this was a wake up call for myself and my family. All of us are over weight, therefore eating healtier can only help. My husband and I have never been closer…that is another bonus…

Don't get me wrong, I would never wish this on anyone else, but I also know that I am a very strong person. If anyone in my family was going to get this I'm glad it was me, I know I can handle it better than they could…

Hey Viki,
You are so right. There is a great comfort in knowing that I am the one dealing with it personally and not my husband or my step daughter. My husband is always saying, "I couldn't eat that way, I couldn't have to do that..." It surprises me sometimes the strength and determination I have aquired since I found I had this monkey on my back.

Yes, you are so right. My husband has 45 tatoos, but he wont let me check his blood sugar…wuuussss…he says…the tatoos only go thru 2 layers of skin…that thing (the lancets) go thru it all…no way…hahahaha.

I hate that there is not a cure at this time, especially for the children.
It is not easy for adults, but to think of a childs dependence on managing this disease is heart breaking.

I hate the loss of freedom. Freedom to eat what I want, when I want, if I want, to go to bed when I want, to get up when I want. do what I want without worry or having this beast constantly hovering in the background to knock you down. And to all those who say you can do anything you want. B…T. No you cannot. That beast is always there, Always. No way to avoid of even forget about it. No holiday, no respite from constant, unending, unyielding worry and fear

Carol,

I agree with you. IT takes me so much longer to get ready to go to even the market because of all the stuff I have to take with me…I now am carrying a back pack instead of my normal purse…uhhhhgggg..

I hate that I got myself into the spot. I hate that the food manufacturers are filling our foods with things that make us prone to getting it sooner in our lives. I hate the sugar free lies that are out there. I hate that the medical system doesn't get that prevention and management are far less expensive than the complications and side effects of perscription medicines.

What do I hate about "having" diabetes? Right now, nothing. There are things that I don't like, but nothing that I hate for the moment. It has changed my life for the better. I am getting stronger, healthier and motivated to do what I should have been doing all along.

For me, I hate trying to find the time to take my insulin and eat at work in only 15 minutes which is all I get for a break.
