I've been trying to quit smoking for the past 2 years. I have tried the patch and the nicotine gum but, they dont really help. I've seen on t.v. prescription medication for helping smokers to quit. Since i'm unemployed I dont have insurance I pay out of pocket for my medication. I want to know if anybody has tried prescription medication and if was effective.

I tried for years to quit. I smoked up to 3 packs a day and then I came down with thyroid cancer and eventually had to have radiation treatments. I almost died! I lost all desire for everything. Food, drink, sex and tobacco. Thank God everything else came back except the desire for tobacco. That was the only reason I stopped smoking. I don't reccomend it, but if you come down with cancer and have the radiation treatment, I'm sure you will find the resources to quit. It's that or die young!!!

Hi. Yes I've tried chantex problem was my insurance wouldn't cover the perscription and my samples ran out. Go figure they wouldn't cover something that probably would work! The pills made me kind of nausaous but I think they would have worked but they were waaaay expensive so I had to quit treatment!
