Being new to the Diet,
What does someone do with the cravings????
While on one side I am wanting to achieve something in my first
back to the doctor visit after being diagnosed
all the while I have terrible cravings!!!
Pasta is the worst! I dream about it!
Cheese is the second worst.
I bought fat free cheese for the High Triglycerides.
Any satisfaction tricks?

I am or should I say USED TO BE a chocoholic!! I Loved chocolate especially at certain times of the month, but had to cease all that. I was a simple chocolate lover though, too much chocolate made me sick anyway, just a Hershey bar and I was happy. Or mint Oreos =)

Being a coffee lover, recently my husband and I took a trip to a new Coffee Cafe and there I found my fix!! Seriously, sugar free chocolate flavoring to go in my strong happy coffee and a sweet and low gave it the boost and I felt like I was eating a chocolate bar right there!

I don't know if I can say this here or not but think we are all adults and I really don't want to offend anyone but, it was like a mouth orgasm LOL seriously!

So now, I have my fix and am always willing to spend quality time with my hubby and go for coffee. Its a good time out, a great time to go down by the lake and goof off and just "be"

While there are many substitutes out there, please be careful when you read "sugar free" as there are still carbs to be counted that can shoot you through the roof. I was lucky with that chocolate syrup as it was totally 0's across the board =)

Hugs ~ Cheryl

I am certainly not one with all the answers, nor do I know what all is on a Big Mac. I see no reason why you can not have a burger occasionally and get rid of the bun. Watch the Ketchup and go for a slice of tomato instead.

Any ideas when you crave a Big Mac?

Do you crave the meat, the cheese or the bun? It it's the meat, just buy a mac & eat it w/o the bun. Or if you're at home, fry up a slider size burger and eat it off a plate with a fork. If it's the bun? I got nothing you can substitute for that except they have buns where they have about half the size of a regular bun. I've tried them, they're quite good.

I crave for bad carbs in general…LOL. I just learn to stay away from it. It's difficult at first. I just don't buy it. (out of sight out of mind) is what works for me. I do still crave for chocolate, I just buy the sugarfree chocolate pudding or buy dark chocolate. My worst enemy bad food I love and crave for is white rice. I grew up eating it with every meal, considering I'm asian. I mean I was given a rice cooker when I initially moved out of my parents home. I have given up white rice indefinitely, because it makes my BS rise and puts me in a carb sleep, and this when I portion it out to a half cup. So, this probably didn't help you…LOL…I'd just stay away or portion out your craving and don't over do it.

I'm in a rut I need a low protein and low sugar snack any ideas? My daughter is on a 28grams of protein daily but no restrictions on sugars or carbs but they r bad on the sugars, so any ideas will be very helpful! Remember the protein is only 28 grams per day and she eats breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as 2 snacks a day!

Snack Pack Sugar free pudding has less than 1 gram of protein. The flavors are chocolate,(my fav) vanilla and butterscotch. They come in ready made cups. You are getting both of what you need.

I bought something new at the store called a Jazz Apple. This is the sweetest crispy apple with zing to it.

How about some sugar free Jello with some apple cut up in it and a little banana? Add sugar free whipped topping

Can you get something like a crystal light and make popsicles with it?

I like to have a low fat granola bar, or small apple with cinnamon sprinkled on it,no sugar jello, celery with pnt butter spread in the center. Takes the edge off my cravings.

Maybe a salad when you are hungry… or some fruit or raw vegs…

I've been reading a book called The Insulin-Resistance Diet by Cheryle R. Hart, MD and Mary Kay Grossman, RD. They suggest always eating protein with carbs and eating every 2 hours (grazing) while limiting your carbs to 30 grams or less every 2 hours. It's helped a lot for me.

People have suggested for pasta, the brand "Dreamfields pasta", which, I believe can be found in most grocery stores. I've also read here in DC about a Quinoa ("KeenWa") pasta which is low in carbs. I have no idea where that may be found.

I have found them both at local grodery stores. King Soopers (part of the Kroger chain) has both. Sprouts has Quinoa. I haven't checked other stores since thse two are the closest to me. If you go to Dreamfields' website they have a find a store page that will search for a store near you that carries their products.
The Ancient Harvest Quinoa web page has info about ordering their pasta online.
The quinoa pasta satisfied my mac and cheese cravings without damaging my BG.
