Has any one tried Lyrica for neuropathy? I am wondering if it is better than gabapentin.

I took Lyrica for several years for peripheral neuropathy. Besides weight gain and swelling, I was sleeping all the time. I did not connect it to the Lyrica until I got off it. I would fall off the couch while sleeping sitting up. I feel like I lost 2 years of my life being confused. I thought it was because of severe depression. Now, I truly feel it was because of the Lyrica. Although it did help with the chronic pain, I don’t think the side effects was worth what I went through. Thanks

I tried Lyrica for 2 years and nearly lost my mind, literally. I found myself getting very forgetful, gained about 30 lbs., continued to have severe neuropathy pain, etc. I switched back to gabapentin and am now up to 900 mg. 3x a day and IT IS WORKING AWESOME!! I am so thankful. The Lyrica didn't even help my fibromyalgia, which it's supposed to. For me it's gabapentin all the way!!! Blessings, Brenda

Been on Lyrica for awhile it works wonders. The reading i get is that gabapentin works and Lyrica works better but is expensive.I would say they are close enough.

I have decied to give up my Lyrica 75mg. after just taking 3 pills, 2 yesturday and 1 this morning. My urinary control has been go go go every 5 minutes or so I didn't mind that as much as I mind blood in my urine so I'm not taking any more of them feels like I got a UTI .

I have never heard of the side effect of your description. Have you read all the side effects or talked to your Dr? I'd be interested to know.

Hi. I was given Lyrica about 2 yrs ago for nuerophy (spelling?) but at the time it was for nerve damage because of my fibromyalgia & myofascial. Unfortunatley the Lyrica didn't help me at all & made my pain much worse. But I do know 3 people that the Lyrica is working great for them. Only 1 of the 3 are using it for diabetes neruo, 2 of them are using it for their Fibro treatment. Strange how 1 medicine can be used to treat more than thing. I hope it is working well for you.

Have a great week..

I have taken both and I have had more favorable results with the Lyrica that I take now for my neuropathy.
