WHY IS IT THAT I CAN EAT FRUITS LIKE ORANGES, APPLES, GRAPES ETC, AN SEE LITTLE INCREASE IF ANY IN MY GLUCOSE LEVELS ? AND, WHEN I EAT RAISINS (WHICH I LOVE) MY LEVELS ACTUALLY DROP BY 20 POINTS OR MORE. ALSO I SEE NO NOTICEABLE INCREASE WHEN I EAT NON-DIABETIC HARD CANDY. I'VE ONLY BEEN A DIAGNOSED DIABETIC SINCE JUNE 2010. ANYONE OF YOU "EXPERIENCED" DIABETICS HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCES ? BOONDAB OY123

When are you testing your blood sugar and what are you doing before and after you eat the fruit? So many things play into it that it may not e as simple as you think. Even the accuracy of meters could explain a 20 point difference.

Also, what is non-diabetic hard candy?

No, I've not noticed anything like that in my experience. I love raisins too! But I cannot eat them without raising my BG levels sky high. There may be explainations for it, but without knowing your medical Dx, situation, when you take your BG readings (how long after eating the raisins, for instance), what you're doing to control your BG levels and other variables it would be sheer guesswork for any of us, no matter how much experience we have. You might want to do some updating on the "about me"section of your profile.

Blessings to you and yours boonda

We are each different in our responses to foods. I have found that I can eat most fruits with little affect on my readings but anything with actual sugar (brown sugar, molasses etc) will spike mine rapidly then drop the bottom out of my BS readings. Why raisins would act as you describe I can't answer but for myself I find that I really need to be careful of any dried fruits as the sugar content in them is concentrated so it acts on my system a lot faster and more like actual sugar than non-dried fruits do.
