I mentioned on another discussion board the other day about finding a site for free meters. It is Defeat Diabetes Foundation.
You send them an email letting them know that you need a meter and supplies. I did and recieved a meter and kit, along with 10 test strips. It was very quick. The meter I recieved was a TRUEbalance. I then looked online to find test strips for it. Bummer none at walgreens or walmart. So I just typed in the name of the meter on Bing. Yeah! I found a store to mail order them.
100 test strips for $18.35 @

The strips are as inexpensive as I have been able to find for any strips.
I Hope this helps. I know it will me. I did not know how in the world I was going to be able to afford test strips. :)

Oh my god this is a godsend! I just got my meter in the mail today completely free. Now just have to order some more strips for it and I'm all set!

Thanks so much for posting this site!

LOL I know I was surprised to find that it only took 2 days for me to get mine and ten test strips. LOL sound funny, but when you get free meters you just don't get the strips too, not any more at least. Glad it helped.

Yeah not a lot of strips but I fund that eBay has a lot of people selling strips for the truebalance meter for fairly cheap especially when you compare prices to other strips. 200 strips and 200 lancets for $40 is pretty good.

No I just have to get used to sticking myself, lol.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this will help me. After three months of telling me I'd get a meter and a few free strips every month the only company my doctor's office works with up and decided they weren't going to help poor people any more.

I'm upset now because I could have bought my own meter three months ago at walmart as they had a bunch on sale here for cheap. Now I'm stuck with no meter, no job and no insurance.

Bunny Cakes, make sure you just email this site first,
just tell them that you very badly need a test meter and strips. It took 2 days and I had my meter and ten strips. Then check out the other sites for less expensive test strips for the meter that they send you. Good Luck and God Bless.

Here is a site to help find medical help on a sliding scale.

This one is a discount diabetic store.

And nextag.—zzDiabetes...
They have a nice diabetic supplies at good prices.

I will try to look up more at a later time. It takes time because I go to the sites and check them out. A lot of them turn out to be "If you have medicare or Privet insurance." What I am looking for is the lowest prices for our supplies that I can find. So it just takes time to weed them out. lol

Sure good to hear about this site. I really do not see how many people can afford diabetes. Even though I have good insurance so many things go along with it.

Isn't that the truth, and none of it is cheap. A lot of insurance does not pay for the costly little things. I will look into some more sites and post them later this evening.

Great idea. It's nice to see people posting good deals on this stuff. We have to remember that treating diabetes can be very costly for some!

What a great link! That's so wonderful! I'm so glad they are helping people! I wish test strips wernt so expensive don't you! But you got a great buy on them! Thank you for the link!

Hello realsis, It is a wonderful price. I just hope they still have them the first, because I can not afford them until then. lol It is towards the end of the mont. Bills first, Gas Second, Dr. third, Meds fourth, groceries last. Broke by the tenth. lol
I make $14, a month to much to qualify for any kind of help. So Lord please let them still be that price come the first. LOL I just hope that it will help someone else on here. They do have other strips there on that site also for a lot less than I could find elsewhere. So maybe it will be cheaper for some that need them than the co-pay that it cost. I am praying for that. Thank You for the kind thoughts.
God Bless,

Hi! I know what it feels like to try to make ends meet! I'm on ssi and its a tough budjet! That's so ridiculas that your 14 dollars over on income for state help! How terriably frusterating! We really need a better system of healthcare for those who need it! Hopefully in the future things will change! God bless you and have a great day!
