I go the endocrinologist tomorrow for the first time. I was diagnosed in 2006. For the first couple of years I managed well. Then I fell off the wagon. Fell off big time went from A1c of 7 to 10 in 6 months. Now I am trying to get things back in line. What are some questions that I should ask when I go in for my visit? I am trying to count carbs again and can see some improvement. I currently am on Prandin 2mg, Metformin 1000mg, and Amaryl 4mg twice daily.

Since this is your first visit to the endocrinologist, I suggest you take your log book with you so, your endo can check it for you. Also, if you do a food journal take that along with you too, this way your endo can see what you've been eating a give you advice as to how many carbs you should have at a meal to help you bring your numbers down..

Your endo will more than likely request a blood draw for another HbA1c, tosee where you are with your numbers.

My endocrinologist also checks for thyroid issues, yours may also.

good luck.

Hello and welcome
with your numbers up that hight you may wish to ask you doc to put you on insulin fo9r a time to get your numbers down where they need to be then go back to the pills if thats whats right for your needs .
I know others here will tell you more .
Best wishes
