Also have ears checked—may be inner ear infection as it could make ya very dizzy too. Vertigo is a poss. Just some ideas to try to help—I am not a doctor, just been through alot of these things in my life too.

I have that feeling too once in a while, I was told it is LOW blood sugar. This is life threating. You may be hypoglycemic-get your blood checked. In the mean time carry a granola bar with you, put a bunch in the glove compartment and eat is as soon as you feel light headed. Also, my chest pains are due to panic attacks.
I thought it was heart related but it wasn't. If your tests show negative try asking for something like xanax, which will not mess you up but give you a sence of calm. In the mean time try praying, candles, soft music anything that makes you feel good and not think (not t.v.)

Talk to your doctor MAKE HIM LISTEN. Most don't listen to us I know that as mine never listens. It might be your bp so have it checked. Have the blood work run again ALL OF IT. You could be high in cholest, or your kidneys might have that album stuff too high. Your iron might be low—any of the blood tests might show what is really wrong. IF YOU HAVE to go to ER—You might get better results with blood work since you are diabetic. WAIT till after 11 PM to go so most of the shift change is made. Get a copy of all blood work no matter where it is done. Have the ER check you A1C if ya can. IF you have to, get second opinions. Hope this helps you and PRAY you get better

Keep telling your Doctor until he actually listens. Journalling is very good. I am having similar problems right now. I hope you have insurance and can get a second oppinion if this Doctor does not help you. I have no insurance and do not have that opption. Vickie

Bottom line is - we could all offer guesses, and good advice, but you need to tell your Doctor. Journal what you are doing when it happens, when and what you ate, how you felt, what's going on in your life etc. Then you can give Dr. better info to get better diognoses. Good luck!

From what I have heard from my mother-in-law that is an RN. She says that wrist BP cuffs aren't as accurate. Actually the old fashioned BP cuffs are the most accurate to the automatic kind. Hope this helps… A low BP I think would be considered around 90/60 not real sure but you may want to have your doctor discuss that with you, cause some people are different from others… My BP runs 130/80 generally {unless I'm in a lot of pain, which is going to be higher} and my doctor says that is fine…

I'm on 2 BP meds as well Norvasc and Cozaar. I get headaches and my face will be hot and red looking. The only time I feel like I'm going to pass out is if my BG levels bottom out. Also I was thinking about the Glucose machine not being accurate. Make sure that if the machine requires coding it has the right coding to the strips. If the strips aren't the same as the code in the machine, it will give you a false reading. Also make sure the strips aren't out of date. depending on the machine that you may have. I know that the One Touch strips had a problem that they were made in China and the codes weren't right. You may want to check on that. I don't know if they are still having problems or not. I had to switch from One Touch to Accu-Chek Aviva, because my insurance company quite paying for One Touch equipment. Just a thought!

I too just had to switch to Aviva, for cost of strips, to my insurance company…But not too thrilled with it . Keep comparing it to my UltraSmart meter.

Pynetree
Pynetree 2011-02-17 12:05:28 -0600 Report

..not really a problem with the meter…problem is with me. Just really like my UltraSmart…that I could put in all the little extras..like if I just ate, just exercised, wether I was sick,on vacation, etc. My Endo does a print-out and it was neat to have all those notes…Now I just have to write it all down…petty, I know! But the UltraSmart strips cost $25.00 more per 100. So, I'll use the Aviva…but whine about it! : )

If you have an iPhone their is an app called Glucose Buddy. I use it to keep track of my BG and meds and food, then you can upload it to their website and then you can print it out before you go to your Dr.

I am even finding that after I eat that I have to lay down. because I get lite headed. and feel that I am going to pass out . but my BS is in the 100's , so right now I am glade that I am going to have a stress teat done to find out what is causeing this I hope. My test is the 22nd of this month.

It could be your Gallbladder that is doing this to you. That is one of the signs after you eat you feel nausea or light headed.

My insurance will only pay 4 certain BG machines. I have a Accu-chek Aviva. My insurance pays 4 all my supplies, I don't pay 4 nothing. My wife works at our local hospital in the Hospice dept. We get our meds filled at the pharmacy there, so it doesn't cost me nothing 4 my supplies!

I would suggest trying another BG machine. It could be that it is not accurate. Their is several possibilities and could be very well your BP. I would have that stress test done and keep track of you BP. I know others have said this previously, I agree with them.

It could be your blood pressure as others have commented on or it can be any other medication you may be taking.

With me, if my blood pressures are high, I normally have low blood sugars.
And if my blood pressures are low, I will have high blood sugars.

Get your stress test, it is possible you are not getting enough oxygen in you.

I wish you luck.

This happened to me a couple years ago…turned out that my blood glucose mchine was bad. I would feel lighted headed and tispy(I do not drink) and was at work. I would immediatly test my bs and it would read in the 200's so Id take some insulin. But in the end it was my blood glucose machine. I even had to see a neurologist and have a brain scan…then they said i had too much white matter in my brain and made an appt…3 months later was the soonest i could get in…take about stressin out!!! Blood prssure could very well be the cause too…see a diff doc get a second opinion…ur doc is not helping you like he needs to be

Are you taking any kind of blood pressure medicine? I take Lisinopril and so does my mom. Her doctor increased her dose a bit and it made her very dizzy. So Maybe you could ask about that if you are taking anything like that.

I agree, a blood pressure medication can cause you to become light headed, dizzy and pass out if it is dropping your blood pressure too low and they can also cause chest pain/discomfort. Even if it's not a blood pressure medication, low blood pressure in general will make you feel light headed, but without the chest pain.

I would recommend seeing CDE about rhisnif you haven't already. Sometimes a dropping bg or one that is raised very quickly can cause head aches nausea and I suppose for some people, ( like you) my guess is if this happens you could possibly pass out as your body's reaction to this. Of course, this is only my assumption though. Hope this helps you.

First of all your Doc doesn't seem to be taking this serious enough!! You don't need pain pills and a hot pack. When you get light headed take you blood pressure and blood sugar and keep a log of time, day, date, and what you were doing right before this happened and for how long it lasted and if you passed out or not. Then either make you doc listen or change docs! That's from a nurses point of veiw
