Tummy exercises

Okay, does anyone know of an exercise(s) that can help manage the tummy area that does NOT require you to get on the floor?

I have arthritis and getting up and down on a floor is very difficult. So I would love some exercises I can do that will help the waistline without putting me on the floor.

Have you checked into pilates. There are some of the moves that can be done in a bed and some can be done standing. As far as balance you could probably hold onto the back of a sturdy chair doing some. I stick to the easy moves.

No I haven't checked into that further as I saw a lot of them being done on the floor on a mat. I just can't get up very well from that (bad knees).

I have a dvd that has standing exerciises. All the floor ones can be done on a raised platform. Since I don't have that I just use my bed.

Really you can't target certain areas very well. Your body will lose weight where it wants to regardless of what you are working on. You can help build up muscle strength though. One thing that can really help your core is an exercise ball. Even just sitting on it rather than in a chair will help but you can also do some exercises where you are sitting. Most balls come with a guide on what you can do with them, some have a DVD.
