Hi family.I was wondering what are some things you do to relieve stress? I've been going through quite a stressful time. My landlord defaulted on his loan so the house I'm living in is sold to a new owner and I've received my 90 day notice and in the mean time my rent is doubled. I've been looking to buy a home but its been difficult to find one. In the midst of all this someone stole my bankcard number and drained my account. Sooooo I've been under soo much stress I feel like I'm going to explode some days. My numbers have been up and I'm looking for a healthy stress reliever. Id love to hear what you do for stress relief! Thanks family and if you could remember me in your prayers. Please give me your ideas. :)

First of all my prayers are sent your way from me and if you could learn just a few yoga or thi chi moves that would really relieve some stress. If your unable to do them i find talking about it with someone helps too. We are all here for you.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, what a double whammy! In general I find exercising and reading to be relaxing. For big problems like these, I like to plan out the big picture, and then give myself tasks that need to be completed to work my way out of the situation. That way I just worry about what I have to do that day, and not worry about the next steps until it's my task. I break it down until the pieces are something I can deal with. Good luck, and please let us know how it's going. Hugs.

I'm starting back to work tomorrow and I will for sure be dealing with alot more stress. Worked at this place on and off for 24 years. I recently read again about breathing exercises that can be done any time of any day. Slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth-blowing out the stress, tension & any anxiety. Do about 5 or 6 at a time. I plan on trying to take at least 2 breathing breaks a day and see if that helps me. I love the work even though it is stressful. I'm sorry you are going through so much right now. There are only so many things that are in your control. The rest you need to let go of, I know, easier said then done. My thoughts & prayers are with you. Let me know how things are going. Elaine

I will be praying for you. I was sorry to hear about your situation. I have Chronic Pain and Osteoarthritis. When I get stressed, I hurt. One thing that helps me, is I listen to music. I put one of my cd's into my player, close my eyes, and do controlled breathing. This really helps me to relax. I listen to the music of Yanni and Enya. Their music is very relaxing and it really helps. This is better than reaching for the ole pain medicine. It makes me sleep for about 2 hours. I do wake up and I am free from pain. I think the other way is better. I hope that I have helped in some way.

I will be happy to pray for you and God can make things easier when we put our faith and trust in him. I really feel for you. When things get so out of control and you cant change things just take it to God,and put this all in his hands. Watch and see what happens.

In California I think the new landlord has to fullfill the terms of the lease.

I also take long walks to relieve the stress. The dog does not walk quite as fast as I want her too but I usally feel a little better after a good brisk walk.
Another thing I try to do is listen to my favorite music as loud as I can and dance around my kitchen! Silly I know!

realsis77 2011-02-12 10:40:38 -0600 Report

That would be great but I talked to a realator and they said they can give me the 90 days unfortunatly. But they did agree to the amount I was paying for rent instead of doubling it like they intended to do. Sooo I'm still looking for a new house and need prayer! Thank you so much for your support.

I walk to relieve stress. Walking outside, breathing in fresh air, and getting the heck away from people really helps me. Then I tell myself that I can only change the things that I am personally in control of. In the famous words of Dori in the movie 'Finding Nemo', "Just keep swiming, just keep swiming."

I like to listen to music and do a craft project or just color when I feel stressed. Sometimes I just like to listen to music, and then there are times when the weather is warm that I lke to go for a quiet walk. During the winter months when it is to cold to get outside I like to work jigsaw puzzles and sip on something warm like sugarfree hot chocolate or cappachino.

I love to play me some video games :) Going out to a movie has also been a great escape from daily worries. Music is therapeutic as well..I don't tell too many of my friends but I actually listen to some old school opera and classical music and it always lightens my mood.

I am so sorry that you have to go through all of this. Just remember that we are her for you. I found that when I am stressed out, exercise works wonders. I like to do some kickboxing training exercise because I get to punch, well not REALLY, and exert all that pent up energy into a good workout. I understand how you can feel like you're going to explode, but let it come out in a workout. You'll feel much better after a good workout. Good luck with everything!!! I'll keep you in my prayers! I'm sorry to hear you're going through all of this. As for relieving stress myself, I like to go for a run, put on some headphones and blast my favorite songs. Sometimes singing at the top of my lungs. Not while running, just in general :)

I'm come to realize that exercising is an amazing stress reliever. When I'm having a really bad day I get a really good workout out of if, so it kind of turns itself around because I feel better after a great workout.

My prayers are with you. I saw a progam on tv the other day that delt with what to do when you are really stressed. It made sence to me so I will share it. First get yourself a flower. One with a lot of fragrance. Find a favorite tune and put it on. Now close your eyes and depply smell that beautiful flower while listening to that happy tune. Picture yourself in a beautiful field of those flowers and relax. It might also help if you fill a tub with your favorite bubble bath and a couple of nice safely placed candles and a very mellow tune. I find my relaxing place by closing my eyes and pictureing a nice visit with my Mom (I no longer have her to visit). And when I am stressed or scarred I also close my eyes and say the "Lords' Prayer" over and over in my head until I no Longer am stressed or afraid. When no one else can do it He sure can.
God Bless,

realsis77 2011-02-10 09:58:41 -0600 Report

Hi you know what? I also have been saying the Lords prayer over and over in my head and it does work. It gives a since of peace that's hard to explain. These times are so rough for me I'm so scared. I have given it to GOD but sometimes I can't help but worry . I only have a short time left here at this house and I sure hope I find another house soon. The good news is I'm qualified for the home loan and everything its just finding it soon. I don't want to end up renting because that will take my home buying money and then I'll be stuck so please pray for me. I'm going out again today to look at houses and I sure hope I find one!I want to thank you so much for your prayers and support! That means a lot to me!

Hey realsis,

So sorry to hear that you are going through all of this.

I am a big believer in talking about what's going on in life, letting all the feelings out, getting some perspective. But I am probably biased since this is how I make my livng. But I do think that there is a lot of value in having a safe place to talk about what's going on in life, even if just to "vent" and let alll of that frustration out. Feelings are just feelings, but holding the in can force them underground, and they can find expression through illness, emotional blow-ups, depression, etc.

A friend, a clergyperson, a support group, a counselor... don't go through this alone.

And keep your buddies on Depression Connected in the loop, please. I am keeeping you in my thoughts!

is it so sad, but in this situation I think only God can help you . so all you need to do now is to put yourself together, leave it to God with confidence, with God evrything is possible. go to your knees and pray to God , tell God how helpless you are, ask him to come for your help because he is the only person that can help you out. After doing this seriously, just cool yourself down don't border,I believe God will definitely provide.

You have to do something that will distract your mind from the immediate pressure that is haunting you at the present. Walking is excellent way to relieve stress. Yoga is another stress reliever. Reading something funny or romantic will help relieve the stresses. Whatever you decide to do know that all of us are in your corner along with the Creator and you will make it through this fire that has been built for you. Peace and Love Always.

I will remember you and your family in my prayers. When I'm stressed out, my initial mindset is to close everyone and everything out and just dwell on what's stressing me. Therefore, I always have to make a conscious effort to get up, get out, and breathe in the fresh air and be reminded that it's not as hopeless as I feel it is because I'm still breathing. Talking with someone about how I feel, exercise, putting on a CD of my favorite music or watching some uplifting or comedic tv show is some of the things I do to relieve stress.

So sorry you are living with such high stress. This would drive up anybody's bg numbers for sure. I really don't think legally they can double up your rent…that does not sound legal. Is there someway you can have some recourse with the bankcard, bank, etc about drained acct? Sure wish I could help you. When I deal with stress, I know I need to get out and walk to clear all the cobwebs outta my head. This does help me…Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.

I'm speaking with a detective today so wish me luck with this. They actually had to make a duplicate card with my number so its quite sophciated who ever did this. They think a merchant scanned my card during the checkout process , and that's really scarey. I so hope they catch who ever is doing this to people because its devastating to find your account drained! I feel so violated. Its almost a form of identy thief. I pray they don't know any more about me ! We surely live in trying times now days! I will keep everyone posted. Just pray I find a house soon so life can get back to normal! You know that I am thinking of you during this stressful time and everyone has his or her own ways to relieving stress. There are some things are just overwhelming but that we have no control over… and this would be one of them. Have you considered seeing a counselor who can not only work with you on the stress but possibly help with anxiety medication? It is very important to care for yourself right now. You know where to reach me if you need me. I don't have the answers but sometimes you do and they are just sitting there waiting to be revealed. Thinking of you!!!
