Wow I thought I was taking alot! I cuurently take 7 regular meds but I am taking two extra pills for pain after an injury. BelieveIt or not I didn't start taking anything until I reached 42 years of age (almost 43!). Then I had a stent paced then 1 month later open gallbladder surgery with gangreen and the 3rd bullet…diabetes. I guess I should be thankful to only have 7 to deal with! God bless those of you with multiple med.

Recently, because my blood pressure was getting to be too low and I felt faint, when I stood, I tried to convince my doc to lower my blood rpessure meds. He wouldn't do so, and said I needed to remain on them. However, I thought he was wrong so discontinued the diurectic on my own. Within a day my blood pressure increased by 20 points, both distolic and systolic, though I didn't develop any edema. I learned my lesson very quickly. Evene though I may not taking all those meds, they do serve a purpose.

Hello Everyone,
Sadly to admit I take 38 prescriptions a day. That is not to include my lotions, vitamins, herbs ect…
But, I am addressing multiple health issues. SLE lupus, epilepsy, asthma, allergies, diabetis, anxiety, depression, digestive problems, gerd,RA in my right hip, spine, hands, feet, neuropathy, restless leg syndrome, and treating other side effects issues…

I am getting depressed writing this, so, I will change the subject.
Life is wonderful and God is Grand!

Your friend, Leigh

Good luck as you deal with multiple health issues. I appreciate the work that comes out of the scientific labs and, as well, believe that in the mind/body approach to healing. I hope you have a good day.

Daily I take 11 prescribed drugs, and 30 pills. I've been taking estrogen for over 28 years and won't give it up. Besides the usual diabetes, cholesterol and hyptertension regulators, I take Topamax for migraines. It works, for me. To see what supplements I really need, I relie on the website through Oregon State University done by the Linus Pauling Institute. They are pretty straight-forward with the information, and aren't trying to sell anything.

How do you keep motivated to keep taking all your meds? I haven't counted how many I take, but it's much less than 34 pills a day. I'm also anemic and need to take a liquid med that I keep in the frig. It's so easy to ignore it and I do, but it sure doesn't help my anemia and fatigue. Some days, I just want to skip all meds and pretend I'm super healthy. I fight with my doctor every time she wants to add another med. Then I get blood tests way out of whack and I finally agree to take the med. It's such a vicious cycle as I have 5-6 doctors prescribing me different meds. Monday blues, I guess.

I have 7 Drs myself. My Pharmacist has caught non mixing meds more than once until I dropped an old one.. I have had the same Pharmacist for 15 years now. I followed her from Walgreens to Kroger I liked her so much. With my Drs now I haven't had a problem with meds not mixing.

I divide my pills into AM and PM, and rely on the pharmacist and docs (5 of them) to tell the truth about interactions. I also research things pretty carefully. Anemia is one of my conditions, and I cannot follow Toma's diet because I need the red animal meats regularly, as I do not absorb iron supplements. While I have no problem with the AM and PM regieme, (or with spelling it), No matter how good my intentions are, even if prescribed, meds to be taken in the afternoon remain in their little cup on the kitchen counter.

I take 30 pills a day and 2 insulin shots a day. I am very lucky though because I have the Medicare D prescription plan and I am in the catastrophic stage which means the insurance pays for all of it through the end of the year.

I take 25 pills of 14 different meds every and more on days when pain is worse than normal, for diabetes, parkinson's, congestive heart failure, high cholesterol, bladder control, headaches from meningioma. It is no doubt the pharmaceutical companies are where most of my money goes. Some arent eligible for co-pay and it is real struggle to keep up at times.

My niece graduated last May and she is now a Doctor of Pharmacy. The day after graduation she had an offer from a Drug Store Chain. Her starting salary is $125,000.00 a year for 30 hours per week. Now you know why she is paid so much money. We are all supporting her and all the others. Imagine what the salary of executives who work at the Drug Company itself. Somebody is getting rich and it isn't us.

That is incredible. I used to think my husband took a lot of meds. He only takes 3 orals, and 2 in his pump. Wow, how do you keep them all straight and make sure they don't interact badly? I take a bunch of supplements and herbs, but no meds right now.
