Please, DC Community help me out here. I already went to the recipe section and could not really find any good marinades.

Please give me some suggestions! I have purchased pre-made chicken and beef kabobs from my butcher, and I plan on having some of these for my Superbowl party.

Now I would like marinades… Thanks.

Sweet Baby Ray's Honey Chipotle barbecue sauce. Available at most grocery stores - has some kick, but not too much.

I love that BBQ sauce, I'd eat it on almost everything if I let myself. Combined with my special rib rub it makes awesome BBQ pork ribs.

Use your imagination. As long as you have some sort of acid and oil you can make some pretty awesome marinades. Some useful ingredients that can be combined are olive oil, saffloweer oil, garlic cloves, chili/chili powder, lemon/lime juice, balamic vinegar, malt vinegar, paprika, plain yogurt and ginger. Even plain old italian dressing makes a pretty good marinade for chicken.

A few example combos, the amounts will depend on how much you need and what you like.

- Yogurt, minced garlic, ground/minced ginger, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, touch of lemon juice (better for chicken)
- Olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, chili (beef or chicken)
- Safflower oil, balsamic vinegar, ground/minced ginger (better for beef)

You know what other oil is good? Pecan oil — I got a bottle as a gift, and the stats are slightly better than olive oil, and has a higher smoke point. Tasty, too.

Yes, but when that's gone you may change your mind if you go and try to buy some!

Yeah, I just looked it up. Mine came from Sunnyland Farms, and its pretty pricey! Going to go write a nice thank you note now…
