Hello Everybody! I hope no one thinks I am bragging, but I went to my Doctor appointment today, and he was quite pleased that my A1C on my last test a week ago was 5.8. That is the best it has ever been. I just wanted to share my good news to those members at DC that are also my best advisors and friends! Thank You!

You have earned the right to brag!!!! I know after getting diagnosed in April that it takes alot of hard work and commitment. I had 8.9 in April and November it was at 6.1 and I'm off all my blood sugar pills. I'm brand new to this sight!

Thank you leonmelton. It was here that by reading the posts of others that I learned that effort in controlling your BS can have good results. There are many "teachers" here, and I chose to listen!

This is a lot to be proud of. Nothing wrong with bragging about your own hard work, and you certainly have bragging rights here! Congratulations!

You deserve to brag, so brag away!!! You've earned the right to do so! So happy for you. You should really be proud of yourself. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
I go back in a couple of months and am hoping my A1C comes back as good as yours.

oldbuttercup 2011-02-01 13:38:57 -0600 Report

I see a lot of positive replies to your latest A1C
Please allow me to add mine.
Great work!
In tis case instead of keep it up, keep it down seems appropriate.
I know your next one will be just as good!

Congratulations. Go ahead & brag. One day I hope to do that too. I have only been diagnosed for 2 weeks, so I did not know to ask about my A1C when I saw my doctor last week, but I see him again next week and I intend to ask about it. I'm kinda scared of it considering my BG was 612 the day he told me I was diabetic, but I think I need to know so I will know when to be proud of myself.

jeffrey9127 2011-02-01 13:25:24 -0600 Report

Thank you Nonna2Three. You do want to ask about it, and ask your Dr. to explain to you why it is important to know this number. The more you know about Diabetes, the better you can take care of yourself. Good luck!

Hey, this is great A1C 5.8…you should be very proud of yourself. I go back for my test in March…keeping my fingers crossed, and my feet walking, I will do better than my last test in December.

Thank you MewElla. I am sure you will have a great test too. I know you have been walking alot from your posts. Keep it up, I am sure you will get the results that you are working for.

Hello sc1boy, that is a great drop in your A1c. You should be very proud of that! Let me know when you have another A1c done. I can't wait to hear how you do.

I am sure you will do well with your future tests! Going from 12 to where you are now is great, and you should be pleased with your accomplishments! Just try to do your best everyday. That is all we can do. One day at a time.

No not bragging at all…ok maybe a little, but heck man isn't here where we are supposed to share our ups and downs?? I think that is awsome…isn't that a wonderful feeling when you know that something your doing is actually working!!!

Thank you, it is a wonderful feeling. I have been recording my diet, and watching out not to eat too much of the things that raise the BS too high.

Good for you! You should be proud, as you worked hard to have that A1C ~

Thank you. I did work, but surprisingly, it was not as hard as I thought it might be. I measured my food portions, and stayed away from snack foods.
