Why do we pay so much for Health Insurance when it does not cover most of the meds or testing supplies you need.

Diabetes is a disease not a common cold, sore, It is matter of life and death so why don't they cover everything from testing supplies, syringes, insulin, metformin, meters, other diabetic supplies with full insurance coverage, why not. Don't they know that half of the world has diabetes and doesn't know it yet! It is a fast growing disease and it is attacking our children and insurance won't recognize it as a disease but pre-existing condition or you have to wait to be covered.

does anyone know where or when help with arrive with getting testing supplies and meds and insulin?

Actually, by law in most states an insurance company has to cover diabetic supplies. If you have private insurance or have group insurance but no previous creditable coverage you may have a wait period until they are covered. Since metformin is so cheap at many places it's not worth going through your insurance to get it. You also have to remember that at the end of the day insurance companies, drug companies and supplies companies are businesses and are run as businesses, not charities. In the US the healthcare system as a whole is a business too.

For help with things, try to find a local diabetes association (united way can help you find one) who knows the local laws as well as programs and places to get help.
