my readings lately have been anywhere from 71 where i take no humalog to 207 where i take 3 units at night time and 35 units of lantus, there are days where i take no humalog all day long then i am to take 35 units of lantus at nightime, this dosen't seem normal or is it? i a so use to having high reading in the past the low readings scares me now and i run for orange juice to bring it up. i was diagnosed back in july of 2010 and my doctor still has me on a sliding scale. am i worrying for nothing?

You may be having what I call false low symptoms. My bride "Jem" had them and it would freak her out. 71 is not low. Jem's endo told her when her meter told her that she was not low, don't freak, just keep testing to see if it stays up or goes down. If she started dropping, just have a 4oz glass of OJ and test again in 30 min. If BG#s still dropping, then take another 4oz and repeat. What Dr was trying to avoid is a BG roller coaster. She didn't always listen to him, but eventually began to understand

Blessings to you and yours Jj!

Each of us are different. For me I'm on a base unit of 20 units + sliding scale (1mg or every 5mg of carb) for each time I eat. Plus 100 units of Lantus a day. I'm so rarely in the normal range, but when reading is normal I too take no insulin.
