i had each of my big toenails removed last month and the healing process is taking so long. is it due to the diabetes? my podiatist (sp) suggested to have them totally removed because of ingrown toenails and further complications. now my whole foot gets ice cold as well as up my calf, i explained this to my podiatrist(sp) he said just to watch for redness. seems strange to me though. any suggestions?

I had mine removed over a year ago as well. I was tired of fighting ingrown toenails on my big toes. Be patient, it takes forever to heal because you are dealing with just the soft nail bed underneath. I had to rebandage mine several times with antibiotic ointment, but eventually it heals.

That is a new one on me! my bride had ingrown toenails fairly frequently and her podiatrist never suggested toenaiil removal. And yes diabetics do often take longer to heal.
