I am glad you got your sugar under control, 700 is scary high. My sugars also go up when I am sick. My sugar went that high before and I had to be hospitalized for DKA. Did they check your ketones?
I hope you feel better soon!

Hello runthe, I too have the same problem every now and then, just start walking if nothing else ease into so kind of exercise for yourself. And sometimes its just all about what you had to eat the night before. I would just cut down and watch what I eat through out the day and evening. Add a few healthy things and before you know it those numbers will come down. Keep in touch!!

What did you eat before you went to sleep? Was it something sweet are something fried? Try eatting a small salard with six crackers and see what it will be when you wake up. We are suppose to eat a small snacks at night. Start walking when the the weather is good and you should see an improvement.

No this means your higher than the meter reads. This has happened to me before. Call your doctor immeditatly! You might need a change in your treatment plan. Always let your doc know when something like that happens. Its very important for your own health!

My reading was hi this morning too. I take insulin, and have a formula I use according to how high it is. A 5:45 am it was >600, and now at 7:30am it is down to 267. I had to drink lots of fluids too. I called the hospital, but by then my insulin was kicking in. Thank the Lord for that.

Are you on insulin? If so, have your doctor get a formula for fast acting insulin correction. For me, I subtract 120 from my BS, and then divide by 8. That works well with my body.

I use to wake up with higher blood sugars. . .I still do, but I will check mine at about 3am, right when it begins to spike. Apparently your body releases glucose or something when you are sleeping, hence your sugar goes up. Be careful from letting your sugars get that high, especially when you are sleeping.

I have gotten HI readings before and had to go to the ER to get medicine and fluids. The sooner you go, the better. You don't want to slip into DKA. Try to drink a lot of water too.
Let us know how you do.

Most blood glucose meters register (High) when the level is over 600.
I am not saying that this is your case, your meter may be malfunctioning, or the strips may be bad (what does the manual say?)
Who is the manufacturer of your meter?
Do you have a spare meter to test with?
You may want to take a trip to the emergency room at your local hospital.
