Believe me, it seems I am always thinking about what food to eat that I can get the most bang for my buck. Some foods work and some foods don't. But for me, I always have celery sticks in frig, sometimes put a smidge of pnt butter on it, I get small apples, sprinkle cinammon on it, cold brochili to nibble on…Lots of vegetables that really are good and little to no points. Tomatoes sliced are good too. In others words, I eat a lot of "rabbit food" with lots of ice cold water that fills me up and not out and keeps numbers good. Good Luck to you.

I switched to a low carb diet soon after being diagnosed and the first few days were tough because I was eating the wrong foods and maxing out my carb intake without filling my tummy.

I figured out that I need to increase my intake of veggies and things that are high in fiber because those keep me in my carb limits and fill me up at the same time.

I've also stocked up on all sorts of things that I love that are low to no carb food that I can snack on if I do get hungry. When I started my diet I allowed myself two snacks a day but as i got used to eating this way I've cut back to one snack because I'm never hungry enough for a second one.

I snack on things like baby carrots, sun flower kernels, popcorn, broccoli, cheese, and other veggies and free foods.Every so often I'll have a package of peanut butter crackers.

I've also heard of people drinking a glass of water before each meal so that they will eat less, I found this was unhelpful to me because it kept my tummy wanting more contents to feel full so instead I've allowed my body to get used to eating less. In just a few week time I've gone from eating tons of food to not being able to eat half of what I used to put on my plate.

It's funny I think about food a hundred times more now than before the diet but I'm no where near as hungry. In fact, I've had a few accidental lows because I wasn't hungry and forgot to eat.

One thing I have been doing of late it drink about 16 oz of water while I am cooking dinner. It keeps my fingers out of the pot and helps fill me up for a smaller dinner.

i hate pork rinds. how about sugar free jello?

You are better off getting plain gelatin and making your own with stevia for a sweetener. I don't use Splenda, Neutra Sweet or Sweet N Lo. I used to not like pork rinds either...I guess we learn to adapt to find those low carb foods.

that might work for you. But it won't for me. Because of my kidney problems I must avoid phosphoric acid, which SF Jello has on its ingredient list. I also avoid neutra sweet.

Unfortuntely I used to eat a LOT of SF jello.

Depends on your cholesterol levels, but pork rinds have zero carbs per serving and give you the satisfaction of crunch and salt. I also use celery and cucumber as free foods. Drink a lot of water too.

I find that if I eat too many pork rinds (which I tend to do - eat the whole bag) they have a laxitive effect on me. Not pretty!

Anyone else have that problem?

I guess I have not eaten enough in a sitting to find that out. Thanks for the warning. LOL

as we both know each of us reacts differently to different foods. I also can't eat the rinds because of their salt content.
