Hello everyone. I havent been around for a while. Went riding with some friends in Nov and had a fall. I passed out. We got home and my wife made me go to the emergency room. I was admitted for 5 days and had an internal defibrillator implanted, Im always short of breath so they did a CT of my chest to check my lungs and for pulmonry hypertension. It turns out I have mild pulmonary hypertension but what they think is causing my shortness of breath is a tumor they found growing in my chest wall putting pressure on my lung and another one in my left lung. I just had a PET scan and am now waiting to see the oncologist on Monday for the results. Im hoping everything is ok. But if not it'll just be another battle I have to fight and win. So the last 2 months have been pretty busy. I will post when I have results. Thanks.

Glad you have a solid team in place, who communicates with you in the way that you want to be communicated with. That's a lot. I will be watching for news as soon as you have it!

Thanks for your prayers. What keeps with with a good attitude is my 4 yo grand daughter. Every time she walks by she gives me a hug and says be better. Thats all I need.

Having been divorced, and now a widower, it is amazing what a hug from ANYONE can do. I am going to miss hugging my son (26) when I move from his house after next weekend.

When I was first divorced I didn't receive a lot of human contact at all. After I joined a dance class, we practiced a move called a "football push where my partner was supposed to drag her fingers around my beltline as I rotated turning to face her again. That was significant to me somehow, because I had dreams about the football push for a couple weeks after that. I became good enough friends with the regulars in the class, I got hugs on a regular basis after that. But the experience impressed on me the need for human touch. Perhaps if you can go to the nursing home and get to know the residents and give and receive hugs. You might be glaad you did.

You're right! A hug from anyone can do wonders. I guess I'm partial to little ones cause I've worked with & coached the kids of my community all my life. Now, in some settings the hugs could have been taboo, school/school aged child care programs. But due to the relationship I have with the families of so many of these kids, outside of these settings, getting & giving hugs has been OK. In baseball I coach t-ball cause the kids are still shorter than me. LOL. But I support the rest of our baseball players by stopping by to watch their games too (I like to follow my t-ball alumni as they get older). Last Summer during the "tournament baseball" season when I was finally strong enough again to go out to the games it was incredible all the hugs I got. My brother would take me til I could drive again & he was overhelmed by it all.

So even though I'm not working now, I know I can go to any community event whenever I'm in need of a hug.

Yes hugs from the kids are the best, they give it meaning, especially the smiles that go with them. Kids tell it like it is and hold nothing back. I voulunteer at our Field Of Dreams, for anyone that dosent know what that is, its a baseball field for handicapped children to play baseball no matter what their disibility. You get not one or two, but many hugs from the same kid. All day long. Its such a blessing to help these kids and see the smiles and laughs. If you have one in your area, Give your time to help, or just go watch the games they play, it'll tug at your hearts and make your day much brighter.

We have the "Challenge League" in our town for disabled kids. It's wonderful to see them out there. I even have a few t-ball alumni in that league. Speaking of t-ball alumni. I went to the grocery store tonight & coming out were 2 former players who are now in their 20s. Big hugs all around!

Field of Dreams is 1 of my favorite movies. It is my tradition to watch it the night before Opening Day each season.

Plezse don't take me wrong, kids' hugs are wonderful. They give their whole self.

I just didn't want to discount hugs from anyone else .
