My doctor gave me a cookbook this past Monday, the day he gave me my Diabetes diagnosis, and it has all the nutritional information included - and it has a lot of recipes that sound great that i will be trying. It is called "Diabetic Meals in 30 Minutes - Or Less". It is by Robin Webb and seems to be published by American Diabetes Association.

Wow, what a great doctor. Most of them tell you that you have diabetes give you a script and send you on your way. This one is at least arming you with some useful tools. Good for him!

Thanks Gabby. I do believe he is a great doctor and I am grateful for how much information he has supplied me with already, but even the cookbook he gave me falls short of my dietary needs since I am a very picky eater. In fact I have just posted a new thread asking for some tried & true recipes that contain none of my exceptions list. If you can help that thread is posted here:

Thanks again! :)

Most any of the cookbooks that cater to diabetics will list carb, protein, fat grams and calories. There are many on the ADA website, or search "diabetic" in the books section of http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ or http://www.amazon.com. You can also get a calorie king book so you can use any cookbook you wish, if you don't mind doing the math. Ray started a favorite cookbook discussion here:
