I have just joined and this is my first post. Is there an Introduce Yourself format or forum

I was diagnosed with gout at the base of a big toe in May of 2007. I thought it was broken. I went to the ER and it was properly diagnosed. I had bad swelling in my foot and ankle and very red. I was given a med which caused my blood sugar to spike badly. The gout went away and I stopped the med. In Jan. of 2008 I had another gout attack in the heel joint on the same foot. My internist prescribed Alpurinol. I have been taking it ever since. It does not bother my blood sugar and I have not had any gout since Jan. Good luck!

I HAD GOUT NUMEROUS TIMES. IT IS VERY PAINFUL AND SOMETIMES IT CAN START IN YOUR BIG TOE FIRST. I WAS PUT ON ZILOPRIM OR ALLOPURINOL(MISSED SPELLED). IT IS ALSO CALLED THE RICH MANS DIEASE. TOU HAVE TO WATCH CERTAIN FOOD, SHELLFISH, ORGAN MEATS,SOME KINDS OF WINES,ETC. DID YOUR DOCTOR GIVE YOU A LIST. I HAD TO FOLLOW A CERTAIN DIET. I FELT LIKE I HAD A BROOKEN FOOT AT THE TIME I DID HAVE IT. HOPE THAT HELPED ALITTLE BIT…
