I just looked at our new tab "21 Days Guide" and it is fantastic! The team at Diabetic Connect has done it again and it is wonderful. You can down load it and fill it in right on your computer. It has recipes, spaces for your food log and exercise logs. It has a place for your meds and test numbers. Goals you want to do and so much more!!

I am going to start mine today. How about you?

I have been going in to it and reading the hints and copying the reciepes that work for me. Didn't down load it so didn't see the spaces for food log and exercise logs so I will look into that. I have other food restrictions so not all of the receipes will work for me. For example I'm allergic to eggs.

Here is a discussion on adjusting recipes.
Maybe something in there will help you find ways to make substitutes.

I know I very rarely ever make a recipe exactly as it is listed. Baking is the only thing I follow the first time close. After that, all bets are off. LOL!

AngieUt 2012-01-21 14:35:20 -0600 Report

Thanks, I'll look into this, but I can get away with using eggs in baking, and things. But can not use most of the breakfast recipes they have, as they feature eggs. It does help to cut down on eggs else where also. Thanks for you help and article.

I will be trying the low carb pizza bites. I do have a problem with the nutrition data as it does not include fat and cholesterol. It would be nice to have this data rather than having to calculate it.

I read through them but they have ingredients that I can't eat BUT I did make the salmon and pineapple salsa. YUMMY! Thanks for posting.

My computer crashed and died a couple of weeks ago. So now I am having to start all over again. That's okay. It's a good program and I was thinking of using it long after the first 21 days.

We both need to have memorial services for our deceased computers, lol.

LOL, I think we should. I am going to try to resurrect mine, because the program I use for work isn't compatible with the new operating system. It is a pain.

I have finished my first week and it is going well. Keeping me more on top of things. Writing things down always helps me. I don't know why I get so lazy. PLUS, Trevor (one of the tech guys) has fixed the links in the PDF. They all work now, so you can go straight to the discussions that were listed in the guide and learn from the community how they are meeting goals and inspiring others.

I did day two today and it is really helping me keep on track. Keeps my fingers out of the snacks so often and a hold on my meals. Whew! I sure needed this.

Good for you, I too, printed this out and think it is a great idea. But I had made up a form up for me that tracks all my test #'s, is a food journal, and keeps each days excercise steps. If something distracts me like, like stress, not feeling my best, of course the #'s and food show me quickly what I should not repeat. This is a way I keep up with myself,l as I always say "#'s don't lie. Have a great day…

I've been working on a form to do just that, could you post a blank one as a pattern for us, please?

I sure did too. I have been using it as well. I have never been very good at tracking or using any of the guides that the doctors ever gave me. But this has really been helping so far. I am on day 2 as well so we will see how it goes. Hopefully I can keep it up.

I kind of have a little routine I do. I print the two pages I need for the day as I test in the morning. Then I choose my card from my diabetes job jar and then I am set for the day with my little goals to help me along to my overall goals.

I tried to download a copy, but it wouldn't save to my hard drive. I will look into it and try again later.

GabbyPA 2011-01-06 21:12:59 -0600 Report

It is a PDF and you may need a reader. I love it. I have been printing out one day at a time and going from there. It is getting me back into the journaling that I was doing when I first started. Good habit.

I do have adobe reader 7. the problem must be something else. I have been using Jem's laptop rather than the desk top. There may be some setting problem. Jem had some specialized screen reader software installed. Perhaps that has something to do with it

we are looking into the downloading problem to see why some aren't able to download the guide. I will let you know if we find anything.

Many thanks. I downloaded adobe 10. Still can't download the guide. Have had no problems downloading other PDF files

We have switched out the interactive pdf for a normal format of the pdf to make it easier to download and save. I hope this helps.

GabbyPA 2011-01-07 09:48:36 -0600 Report

I have a converter program that is not Adobe and it worked fine. It does take a lot because it has a lot of graphics in it. Maybe the desk top will work better with more ram or space? If you still have trouble, contact John C and see if he can have one of his tech guys contact you to help you out. I am not so great when it comes to the techno stuff. That's what the hubby does for me. LOL

GabbyPA 2011-01-05 17:48:19 -0600 Report

I started this today and printed out Day 1 for me. We tried the salad recipe that came on the page and it was great! I substituted craisins for the cherries and goat cheese for the feta. We enjoyed it very much and had it with burgers. Yum. I exercised around the rain storms today, that's what malls are for. LOL!

joni55 2011-01-07 10:11:32 -0600 Report

I recently got dried cherries. They are delicious. I guess that would work in a salad too.

GabbyPA 2011-01-08 21:17:07 -0600 Report

The recipe calls for dried cherries, but I didn't have any. My mom loves Crasins, so we almost always have some of those around the house.

GabbyPA 2011-01-08 23:03:42 -0600 Report

I can get dried cherries, but the cost a lot and the craisins are less expensive. I try not to eat too much dried fruit because it concentrates the sugars so much and a small serving is all you can have. So I put them in other foods usually. I don't snack on them unless I mix them into a home made trail mix with nuts and things.
