Before I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes I did not know the seriousness of this disease, and the signs and symptoms to look for. This yr in August, I nearly lost my life 2 different times. 1. I was hospitalized for over a week with a blood sugar of over 900. 2. I was found by my son in the floor not breathing hospitalized for over a week. The point I am trying to get across is things like cancer and obesity (Not bashing these conditions) awareness you hear about all of the time. But (to me) it seems that diabetes awareness has been pushed to back of the stove. People like us (diabetics) are losing the fight and dying, there has to be more we can do (new things - like the Relay for Life) to bring diabetes awareness back as a very hot topic. Will you join with me to come up with new things an ideas to put this ball in motion, and take back control of our or your life. PLEASE RESPOND WE ARE DYING OUT THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

There are many members who participate in the various walk/bike events across the country and around the world. Some have put together TV shows and other use YouTube to get the word out. There are some members who are starting their own support groups to get a team together and who knows what wonders those people will do. It is up to each of us to talk to someone about diabetes. To write to our Editors in the papers and to make news. Those things help, but it is the daily education of people that will help the most.
