Suggestions of snacks prior to bed, I have tried several and can't seem to find the one that works the best for me to bring #'s down.

what have you tried so far?
usually i go for peanut butter crackers and a small amount of juice
that usually keeps me balanced through the night

I like and have tried the pntbutter and graham crackers and for a while I was balanced till morning, but just this week, my morning #125-128. This is high for me and while I am not on any meds, I want to get a tighter hold of the #'s.Appreciate your comment, and Happy New Years!!

My best bedtime snack is a mini whole wheat bagel, or a whole wheat tortilla with a bit of butter. If I don't have a snack, my fasting blood glucose is higher the next morning. But Ray is right, we are all different. Good luck finding what works for you. Happy New Year!

Hey, you are right about always having a small snack because the times I really am not hungry, if I skip the snack, #'s are higher in morning. Definitely on a mission to this balancing act of #'s. Enjoy your very first day of 2011!!

I would think if there was a one size fits all answer to your question, it would be well publicized but everybody and every body is different on what works and what doesn't. The answer to your question comes from your meter, your taste buds and your pancreas. Whether morning, bedtime or in the middle of the day some people can tolerate things that others cannot. My usual night time snack is low fat yogurt, low fat cheese sticks, an egg, or even some lunchmeat and/or cheese. I don't have a serious problem with highs or lows and am not on medication for diabetes so what works for me may not work for you. If you are experiencing higher numbers, go for a walk rather than walking to the fridge. That may be the answer for you but if you choose to eat, eat healthy! Oh, and by the way… Happy New Year & Happy New YOU.

It would be simple, wouldn't it, if one size fit all, but it doesn't work that way. My high numbers this week for a.m. were 125-128 and I am trying to tighten them in a down cycle. I don't take any meds and walk 5-6 miles every morning..My goal is to be and stay healthy. Numbers during day are great, just that morning problem I'm trying to lick. Thanks your help, I appreciate them..You have a Happy New Year too!!
