I find it hard to get my requried amounts of carbs. I'm supposed to 65carbs a meal sometimes I'm over but most of time I don't even come near that. I also have the problem of remembering to bolus every time I eat something. I'm on the pump and like it very much. It beats takeing 6 shots a day

Thank you all the replies. yes thats what the dietician told me. 1600 Calories with 195 grams of carbs. This last time my A1C was 7 Dr was pleased. last time it was like 11 It just seems to jump around alot. we are really going to work on it for the new year.

Happy New Year to all

65 carbs a meal sounds like what my dietician told me as well-between 45 and 60 a meal-she said, and 15 for a snack. When I was actually paying attention I lost weight with this amount! Didn't always get that much-and my numbers were good even with the full amount.
For 2011 I am getting back to it, paying attention and determined to get my A1C into the 5's-it's 6.2 now!
Good luck to you-do whatt makes you feel better for you!

There is no "amount of carbs I am supposed to eat," if you want to eat less then you can eat less, especially if you are using insulin, even more so with a pump.

Howdy Barbara!

65 carbs per meal? 195 a day? Wow, that seems like a lot! Are you certain they didn't say per day? Do you have a particular medical condition that necessitates you consuming that level of carbs?

You might want to double check that level of carb consumption with another Dr.
